Cool feature on desktops

Hey everyone. I was looking at some very cool screenshots of other linux user's desktops. There's one feature that I really liked and would like to know how to get it on my desktop. The feature was the weather report. It looked like an icon that displayed somewhat transparent on the desktop. Sorry, but that's all that I know about it. If you need more info, I'll try to find that particular screen shot again....

on gnome? if so its gdesklets...

Gdesklets is good but does not have many decent themes. If you have KDE installed try superkaramba and search for themes at kde-look.org.
