Converting windows NTFS to Linux acceptable format???
I'm adding 2-3 linuix boxes to my network of 4 XP boxes. I have about 2TB of Multimedia that I wish to share on the network. The files are on slave drives in the XP boxes, formated wwith NTFS. What is the best way to get these files to my Linux Server? I want to use one of my Linux boxes as a Multimedia center/ File server.
I'm guessing Samba is what I will be using. Is that the best? Which distro would you reccomend. FC3-4 or Suse 9.3 Pro?
Samba is the way to go, yes. With samba it doesn't matter in which filesystem the files are. The only thing you won't be able to do, is write to NTFS. But you will be able to read from NTFS from Linux and read from the Linux filesystem from Windows.
