Converting Fedora 6 to redhat entepris Linux

Dera brothers and sisters
I have Fedora installed in my System. Now I want to convert it to Enterpries linux(Redhat). But, while trying to use diskdruid to create new linux partition after removing the existing linux partition I get into the following problem.

The partitioning area shown below is very confusing to me. So I dont know where shoud I put what and what all portitions should I delete to install RedHad removing Fedora

Vol group00 9472 M
LV Logvol 101 384 M swap
LV Logvol 100 9056 M ext3
/dev/hda ..............
hda1 .................
hda2 ...........
hda5 .................
hda6.................
hda7..................
hda8 101M ext3
hda9 physical vol

Along with Fedora I have go Windows XP as well, with four windows FAT partitions and one Linux partition in F (10 GB).

My question is which of the above detailed patitions shall I remove so that I can safely install Redhat without disturbing Windows XP

You should be able to run the RedHat installer and tell it to use the existing Linux partitions. If you like, you can use use a "live CD" Linux distro such as Knoppix to delete the Fedora partition, but it should not be necesary.

Note that the C, D, E, F partition identifiers are only used by Windows. For Linux, the id is in the form hdXY, where X is the drive letter, and Y is the partition number. Thus, hda1 is the first partition on the first drive. (If you have SCSI or SATA, you'll see sdXY).

If you need more help, post the output of "fdisk -l" (run as root in Fedora)

Conveting Fedora to Redhat

Sir
Thanks a lot for your keen interest. Before attempting installation of RedHat(EL)over Fedora (core 5), I ve got a few more doubts to clear. I had alrady given you the partition details displayed in the Diskdruid as follos.

Vol group00 9472 M
LV Logvol 101 384 M swap
LV Logvol 100 9056 M ext3
/dev/hda ..............
hda1 .................
hda2 ...........
hda5 .................
hda6.................
hda7..................
hda8 101M ext3
hda9 physical vol

Now, as required by you let me give you the output of fdisk -l

/dev/hda.........Id 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2........ f W95 Extd (LBA)
/dev/hda5/....... b w95 FAT32
/dev/hda5/....... b w95 FAT32
/dev/hda6/....... b w95 FAT32
/dev/hda6/....... 83 Linux
/dev/hda9/....... 8e linux LVM

Here (fdisk -l)I find no confusion. but in the case of partition details displayed in the diskdruid the details like vol group ( first three lines) look highly confusing to me. I dont know what partition I should delete to safely convert to redhat(EL). It is because I just do not know what the volgroup menas and how was it created. (I had really made a number of failed attempts before actullay installing fedora, which I doubt may have resulted in the formation of volume group). As advised by, I donot find any to option to install Redhat in the current Linux partition. I am using 4 Cds of Redhat(EL) for installation.
Based on these facts I hope you would further advise me to proceed with instllation so that I can convert Fedora to Redhat(EL) withuout disturbing WindowsXP
Looking forward to your reply

Something is VERY wrong here....
First, /dev/hda is not a partition--it is the designator for the entire drive. Second, you have TWO hda5 and TWO hda6. Is this the EXACT output of fdisk??

Assuming that Windows is working, do this:
Backup any important data In fact, do this before you do ANYTHING else.
Run the RHEL install CD--When it asks you for how to partition, first delete ALL of the Linux partitions + any others not being used, and then create new ones for RedHat.

Sorry sir, It was a copying mistake - the output is as follows

/dev/hda.........Id 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2........ f W95 Extd (LBA)
/dev/hda5/....... b w95 FAT32
/dev/hda6/....... b w95 FAT32
/dev/hda7/....... b w95 FAT32
/dev/hda8/....... 83 Linux
/dev/hda9/....... 8e linux LVM

I doubt whether there is any such 'delete all Linux' partition option there in the LINUX RedHat(EL)CD. Anyway I will find out and communicate

When you run the installer, you will have the option of manually setting up the partitions. At that stage, you can delete anything you want......
