Convert .rec to wav, mp3, or raw

Using dspspy, I've recorded a number of audio files ending in .rec. Only problem is, it seems the only possible way to play them is through `cat file.rec >> /dev/dsp`. Neither sox, lame or audacity can convert them to another format.

Any command-line tools that can? A .wav or .raw would be best. I just can't seem to find any conversion tools.
