Question console eye-candy

I was browsing around and came across these screenshots (describing them as I am not allowed to post a link yet) with a gentoo logo in the back of the vc which looked alot like a transperant aterm, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what they have done to get there console to look like this. I now what most of the applications software is, I was mainly wondering about the logo in the vc?
Thanks.

Hi there!

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.org. You could give aterm a shot. It's pretty nice and allows transparency. It's also very easy to compile. The image you've saw is probably an ordinary image in XPM format. You can create these images (or convert them into) with Gimp. I guess jpeg and png are also supported by aterm, but I've never tried. I'm more into transparency stuff only

There are other consoles which support that kind of stuff as eterm.

Good luck!

Hi Megaman X, thanks for the welcome and the reply. I dont think this has anything to do with X. When I say vitual console I mean as in not using X and just using the normal consoles you boot into without X as I thought consoles in X are just called xterms (but then Im not sure whether that sounds right to me either.) and your the guru . I apologise if I explained it wrong I wish I could paste a link as the pic would show more. Any other help would be appreciated?
Thanks again.

The tool is bootsplash. If anyone wonders how to achieve this nice look of the console, have a look at bootsplash.org for info. This should be compiled in the kernel however.
