Question connect file to path

How do you connect a file called rc.firewall originally located in path /etc/rc.d/rc in
path /etc.
I don;t know the exact term for this, but i know it's akind of shortcut that links the file rc.firewall from /etc/rc.d/rc to /etc
when you do a "ls-l" in /etc, you'll get the filename with the following modes lrwxrwxrwx. What does the 'l' in front stands for?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

You mean symbolic links ?
Try:
ln -s /etc/rc.d/rc/rc.firewall /etc/rc.firewall
