Configuring services without X

I want a firewall that can serve web pages, so I set up a basic install of Red Hat 8.0; I've barely got started, and I've already hit a snag.

Since this is a server, I chose not to install X, so I don't have access to serviceconf, and httpd doesn't start by default.

How can I configure my computer so that httpd (and mysqld) will start on boot-up? Short of installing X, I mean. I don't want any more software on that machine than I need.

(And as a sidenote, does Shorewall require X to run?)

You can use ntsysv which is slightly graphical or chkconfig - eg:
chkconfig httpd on
chkconfig mysqld on
