Configure wine

Can some one please tell me what to do to the wine config file to get where i can use my windows programs. Here is my harddrive configuration>>
/dev/hda1 /mnt/windows (that is my windows xp partition)
/dev/hda2 /mnt/fat32 (the partition linux and windows share)
/dev/hda3 / (thats my linux partition)
/dev/hda4 swap (small 100MB swap partition)

Here is a really good example of what you need to do to get the latest version of Wine running Half-life. This example assumes you have a Linux-only box, but you can alter the configuration of Wine to use your existing Windows installation.
