configure kde mail client

Hello, i am using suse 7.3 and i am trying to configure the kde 1.3.1 email to run with comcast cable. Its telling me that i need the sever and the hostname so i called comcast to get this information. Comcast told me that they don't support linux. Is there anything that i can do.

Tell them you are running Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. They can find it on their check off sheet then.

BTW, the hostname is whatever follows the @ in your e-mail addy.

Don't they post that info on their home page? If not, you could try mail.yourisp.com or smtp.yourisp.com

I didn't bother asking my ISP about it even though they run Sun.

The ISP help desk doesn't have the brightest of bulbs burning...

Configuration of an email client has nothing special to do with Linux.

They have to be able to tell you the names of the outgoing (SMTP) and incoming (POP3 or IMAP) servers, as well as requirements (e.g. whether SMTP auth or POP before SMTP is required).
Except for username and password, you don't need more information to get it running

Simply ask them for a configuration howto for Outlook or Outlook Express, the necessary data will be included there ;)

For comcast mine is for outgoing smtp.comcast.net and incoming is mail.comcast.net and your. password is the password of your account . HTH..
