Config files to backup

hey all. Does anyone know what config files I need to backup to keep all my sound settings, like surround sound stuff? Also, any other files that would be worth keeping in a safe place? So far I've got my sources.list and xorg.conf.

Without knowing your sound setup (alsa, oss?) I'll suggest /etc (for global config stuff) and /home (for personalised config stuff) as good candidates to be backed up in any situation.
