You could always mirror your existing linux to a second Ext2 formatted partition...

But I imagine that it would be easier to simply re-install.

rootboy: you are SERISOULY joking i take it??? reinstalling might be an option in crappy windows, but it's hardly ever a solution in linux. please do not suggest steps like this in future, unless there is no alternative.

Whether you are running RedHat 8.0 or not, this website has what you need:

https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/...t2-revert.html

If you haven't registered with RedHat, you will probably need to do that to access this page. No cost but a few minutes of your time.

Wow, relax, it was just a suggestion.

I'm a big fan of the "Keep it Simple" way of life and to me, it looked like it might be time for him to cut his losses and re-install. And for a newbie, this isn't necessarily a bad route to take IMHO.

And perhaps you missed it, but I did recommend mirroring to a second partition before the "nuclear" option. If puru_09 is game for that option, I will be more than happy to assist him with that.

Now, if you have a better suggestion, and possibly a link, I'm all ears -- err, eyes

I'll have to have these old eyes rechecked, but I seemed to have missed where ESR shows you how to convert a filesystem...

And while some find him informative, I consider him the S.I. Hayakawa of the geek world. So he's of no interest to me...

But he did have a few appropriate suggestions.
