Concerning my Jaton Geforce card my scanner and Wine...

I have a Jaton Geforce 2 MX 32 mb DVD/2X/4X AGP 32 mb, I don't think Jaton has linux drivers, can I use the nvidia ones instead?

Also My scanner (AGFA snapscan E20) refuses to work. When I try Kooka, it tells me to install SANE. With Xsane, it says ''Failed to open device `snapscan:dev/usb/scannero': Invalid argument.

And Finally, I tried to install Wine and I get a Signature verification error, does it matter? Can I keep installing? It gives me the choice to.

1.) If it's a Geforce you can use the nVidia drivers, don't matter what company made it. It's still nVidia chipset

2.) I never messed with a scanner on linux...yet. All i know is you need sane and xsane. You can use Gimp with xsane as well.

3.) You shouldn't need Wine for the scanner

Sorry to revive a long dormant thread but I was hunting around for advice on setting up scanners whilst troubleshooting my g/f's scanner at the weekend and didn't find much that was directly useful on various google searches - so I'm pimping the solution I arrived at (for an Agfa E20 under mdk 9.2 but I think the essentials are the same across distros and hardware).

Anyway my answer is in the following post:
