Computer Crashing - Viewing logs
Every day I wake up, I turn on my monitor to realize the screesaver is paralized. The computer will not respond to either the mouse or the keyboard. The only way I can solve this is rebooting.
I am not sure if this is a hardware problem or some problem with Linux. Is there any log I can check to see what were the errors? I checked /var/logs/message (or messages, I don't remember). However, I do not feel there is anything there that can guide me. Am I looking on the correct track? I appreciate your attention. P.S. I don't have any other OS installed but Red Hat Linux 9, so there is no way I can leave that computer running other OS at night to check ;) |
nVidia graphics card? :)

Funilly enough, the reason I switched to Linux, among others, was because my computer would just spontaneously freeze sometimes for no reason -- I thought it was a Windows 98 thing, so I installed Linux and the same thing continued to happen... I'm still on Linux now because it at least fixed all the other problems I was having, and I like it and enjoy using it now. So, maybe it's an OS-independent thing, maybe it isn't.. I'm not exactly sure what logs you could check though.
