Compiling new kernel

I currently have 6.2 running on my sparc based system. Since this is the 2.2 kernel, can I just download the src of the latest kernel and compile it on my sparc box to update the kernel? Thanks

You might want to use this document as a guideline when upgrading.
http://linux-ve.net/MyLDP/kernel/3579.html

A google search should find you plenty more explanations of upgrading from a 2.2 to a 2.4 kernel.

looks like the upgrade procedure isn't too bad, thanks for the links. I wish someone could tell me tho if I am wasting my time by trying to upgrade my 2.2kernel on a sparc to 2.4. Thanks again.
