Compile source on other pc ???

I have a question. My server is very slow ... about 200Mhz ...and it takes about 4-5 hours to compile some source ..... my question is ...can I ./configure on my server ...then make (compile) on my pc which is much faster (2 Ghz) ......then bring it back to the server and make install on the .....that server ...

I hope I made myself clear
