compile kernel


Hi there i am searching for something like that
a)Kernel compilation......the complete reference
b)Kernel compilation unleashed
c)Kernel compilation....the biggest guide ever written

Assuming you want to compile your own kernel, I suggest you:
1. Back everything up.
2. Make a bootdisk.
3. Browse google
4. know what hardware you have (vendor name + model number)
5. cd /usr/src/linux
6. make menuconfig
7. make dep && make clean bzImage modules modules_install install
8. /sbin/lilo (if you use lilo)
9. modules-update
10. reboot

Any specific questions (i.e. you compile and get an error message), google or post to the forum.
