Compatible pcmcia network card for Old Laptop

I have just bought an old laptop. I was looking for a pcmcia network card that would be compatible for linux. Does that brand of card matter or will some cards not be compatible. Thank you in advance for any help.

Check the LQ HCL . I have a Belkin that I use on an old IBM 380z which works well with the 2.4.X kernels
