Does any one know how to get rid of the compaq screen when you first startup a computer :confused:

I´m not sure but i have a friend that as a compac and it have two hd drives i think one is not used because the size of disk is the size of one disk i think the other drive is where that and many others informaction stay stored .

I think that the flash screen is stored in the bios. That's why they are usually very simple graphics. You are stuck with it unless you want to flash the bios with no Compaq code, which you can buy. I'd say if the machine works fine, then live with it.

During your Linux install, keep in mind the fact that Compaq systems use a special "diagnostic partition" on the boot drive. This has caused problems for some people when installing Linux. If you run into trouble, you can get more info on the subject by doing a Google search using the keyphrase "+compaq +linux +partition".

I just spend TWO(2) days installing linux on Compaq PC

here is some info:
If you have HD more then 10Gb and want to dual boot with other OS
you must make sure that your first bootable partition is below 10Gb. this will elliminate the 1024 Cylinder problem with Compaq it is not easy since the restore CD will repartition the drive to have single large partition if you ever need to do a recovery.
if linux is the only OS you will use then there is no problem.
And incase some one wants to point out that latest versions do not have this problem ( I have a red hat 7.1(seawolf) )
about 2 month old.
