Command to terminate X Window smoothly

is there a command to shutdown an X Server cleanly so that no error messages will be shown (like "X connection to :0.0 broken explicit kill or server shutdown" etc.). Just like when you startx with a window manager and leave it, it will automatically shutdown X, but cleanly. Is there a command for doing this other than 'kill' ?
