Command line mail management

I get email through a Linux server which I have limited access to (I normally download the mail through IMAP).
I am getting ridiculous amounts of spam, and I am sure there must be a way to filter it at the server, and also to sort my incoming email.
Trouble is I have not a clue where to start.

Any suggestions?

It isn't clear from your post whether you have access to just the mail box or the mail services.

The article below will give some information that should get you started. Many people use the spamassassin it mentions. Mutt is a command line mail tool.

I can ssh into the machine. Not sure what I can do once I'm in there. :?
Thanks for the link. I'll have a read of that on the morrow.
