clicking on software update in setting nothing happens
Hi everyone, I'm using a ubuntu 15.10 Unity version. I click on Sofware Update in Settings but nothing happens. Everything else on Settings responds, but not Updates. I ran
Code:
sudo apt-get update && apt-get ugrade
but I can't start updates gui in settings. I'm trying to install video drivers for my video card
I just went to System Settings-->Software and Updates in VM of Ubuntu 14.04. By default, it opens to the Ubuntu Software tab. Unless something has changed in the newer version, that seems to be for configuring how frequently the system will check for updates, not for actually installing updates.
For your video drivers, try going to the Additional Drivers tab. Ubuntu will search your system for proprietary hardware and, if it finds drivers, offer to install them. At that point, it will ask for authentication.
