Choose Linux stand in internet Cafe, is it good idea? and why?
 

if i want to take Linux to be a server for share internet is it a good idea? and if can or can't why?

what is advatage of it? and disadvantage?

i want to take it coz i think it's secure and rare to hack and i still keep my internet smooth and no problem. Please tell me, how is your idea?

to use for internet connection sharing, given that the machine you are using it on is adequately equipped to support an entire cafe of surfers. You could probably get this going with only a fundamental knowledge of said OS, however the thing is is that if you DO ever run into problems of some sort (whether they be caused by someone on purpose or just as a matter of natural progression) you would maybe be more on your own in solving those problems (unless you were actually PAYING someone to help you out with this).

the extent of your knowledge in this area is already, and I did not mean to give you the wrong idea in my last post. Ideally, a hardware based routing solution would probably be the most foolproof way to run your successful internet cafe business. However, the most desireable hardware routers come with a pretty hefty pricetag these days, and as it does not sound as if you are actually already doing this, I would want to make sure that you are able to do a successful business here before advising you to invest in something like this. For a limited time, at least, Linux can help get your place going.

In the long run, though, if you end up doing a good business, and can afford it, I would strongly advise upgrading to a reputable Hardware based routing solution.

Khmer, what server do you need for your internet cafe? Are you going to be hosting games, or applications and VM's for folks to rent by the hour?

If all you are providing is a shared internet, than a good programmable switch along with a quality wifi router that has the "guest" feature to allow you to force folks to "buy" time to connect will do the trick.
