Changing screen res in Slackware

Any of you Slackware user's know how I can change the screen resolution in X.
I tried CTRL & ALT & + (aswell as) CTRL & ALT & - but that done nothing.
I had a look at /etc/X11/XF86Config & it has no resolutions in it, all I can see is depths on the screen section of the file.
Am I even looking at the right file here ???

Yeah that is the correct file. It should be under the screens section. Make sure you specify next to your default depth that you have your resolutions defined or

You can reconfigure X with xf86config and select what resolutions and what order you want them in during configuration.

I ran xf86 setup program earlier on today but cant remember how

Slack dosent keep my commands in history after I reboot & I cant remember how i done it earlier
(too many pints of guinness

)
I was able to setup X using a console based program, where's it gone ??

Cheer's trickykid, i found the xf96config file & ran it.
still not working but at least I know where I'm going wrong.

in the xf86config you see if gives you once you get to the step like "432" for "1024x768" "800x600 "640x480", it corresponds with the number in the selection.. like 4 1024, 3 800, 2 640, etc etc.. It has the list listed there.. so if you want 1024x768 than the first number would be the one you would put it as in in this case 4 i think.. it has to be a three digit # for it to work correctly though.
