changing login type?

I'm trying to change my login from graphical to text, but coming up empty handed.

I'm running Debian (3.0 unstable), with gnome.

I tried setting my default runlevel to 3(as well as 2, 4 and 5) with no change at all.

Something has got to be over riding that, and I'm sure its going to be an easy one line fix, but I can't find it at all.

Anyone have any ideas?

yah its weird in debian, and i do not as of now have a definite answer for you, but what
i do have is this thread below that i will give you to look at ..
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...?threadid=4661

the guy in this thread figured a workaround, and mentions about some kind of
update utility ... so i will leave you with that, and if i find any other info, then
i will post it ... and if such an update utility exists, i'll ask you to post it for
future reference for others ....

I've searched high and low for this update utility, and come up completely empty handed.

I'm going to try the workaround for now, but I'm not giving up on the update.

One thing that is a bit off, that makes the workaround seem like the only way is that my defaultrunlevel was already set to 3 before I tried changing anything.

I'll delete the symlinks(as per the other thread), and then play around with inittab to see if giving it a 6 still boots graphically.
