Hello, how can I change my file system(currently xfs) to another(ext3) without moving my system to another partition and then moving back?Or is it impossible

It's impossible. The only conversion available that I know of is ext2 to ext3.

You could burn your data to CD too.

You can't from XFS to ext3. XFS is different than ext3. Reiserfs is better than ext3 though. You still need to copy all the files from one partition and to another. Then you need to format. Also make sure your kernel is compiled for filesystem that you are switching to.

I made an ext3 partition where I moved the data and before I had installed and compilled new kernel without support of xfs.The xfs kernel on the new partition is running quite ok, but when I try to boot the other kernel it freezes few seconds after begining of booting and writes:
boot: test
Loading test..............
BIOS data check succesful
Uncompresing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel

and stops there. what can I do?did I compiled the kernel wrong way,or what is bad?
