date :

-s, --set=STRING
set time described by STRING

so you would :

date -s "Mon Dec 16 14:01:08 EST 2002"

And change the bits you need.

:)

[root@linux sbin]# more settime
#! /bin/sh
/usr/bin/rdate -s time.nist.gov
/sbin/hwclock --systohc

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:20 AM.
