Post Change bytes display on command line

Is there a way to change the command line environment so that it will display file size in Megs or Kb (preferebly both and bytes depending on file size) instead of 4-9 numbers all the damn time?

What command are you running?? If you are talking about ls then you might want to consider either
Code:
ls -lm
to display megs, or
Code:
ls -lh
for "human readable" which will give you k, megs and gigs as appropriate.

HTH

I guess it's a Linux only feature.

UNIX doesn't have ls -h or ls -m for that matter

Cool, thanks!

Solaris just has ls -k for k instead of 512b blocks. You can always download and install the GNU sh utils.

cheers
