Certain FAT32 files become empty

Occasionally after i have addded new files to xmms from my windows partition, and i have listened to them, i leave the computer running and i come back only to find that all the files in the last few directories i have added now have a 0 file size. This is very annoying as i have ripped the same CD multiple times. It happen with random cds.

Currently Running:
SuSe Linux Pro 9.0
Xmms 1.2.8
Intel Pentium 3 500Mhz
with a 200GB maxtor ata 133 hard drive

Was the partition created by windows or something else? If it was created by non-windows then it can have some wierd effects. Try running windows scandisk and defragmenter on it. It sounds like the partition's corrupted somehow.
