CentOS and Nagios

Hi all,

I have installing Nagios before on Ubuntu and CentOS ... now i have some problem and i dont know way i have it ... the thing is ... im creating new .cfg file in nagios/etc/objects called routers (routers.cfg) and i put the path of it in ngios.cfg as "cfg_file=/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects/routers.cfg" ... when i check for errors, i dont have it, but when i restart the nagios when i go to the page and in the Host Services or Services part iv got this error message.

Quote:
Whoops!

Error: Could not read host and service status information!

The most common cause of this error message (especially for new users), is the fact that Nagios is not actually running. If Nagios is indeed not running, this is a normal error message. It simply indicates that the CGIs could not obtain the current status of hosts and services that are being monitored. If you've just installed things, make sure you read the documentation on starting Nagios.

Some other things you should check in order to resolve this error include:

Check the Nagios log file for messages relating to startup or status data errors.
Always verify configuration options using the -v command-line option before starting or restarting Nagios!
Make sure you read the documentation on installing, configuring and running Nagios thoroughly before continuing. If all else fails, try sending a message to one of the mailing lists. More information can be found at http://www.nagios.org.
Also i notes that if i remove the path from the nagios.cfg file "cfg_file=/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects/routers.cfg" it is ok ... and if i enable the path or change for example "cfg_file=/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects/switch.cfg" it works ... the only time i have this problem is when i add new path or new file ...

any suggestions ?

"Contact" can be defined in 6 places and there's inheritance to think about...

See https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...os-4175484407/ for references to places.
