Cdrom / Floppy Device does not exist?

Hi again,

MD8.2. I'm unable to mount the cdrom or floppy device does not exist it's written in fstab as default as I have aslo used old settings that once had to use on M7.2 after having to switch off supermount but those settings do not seem to work on MD8.1.

If I try to mount them through a terminal the error appears if I use the Kde nothing happens, but if I use the command line using the usermount gui I can mount the the cdrom and floppy via its gui.

Any ideas? usermount through the command line works but all else, KDE and terminal fail.

Post a copy of your fstab file.

MMMmmm, I have just been trying to do a copy and paste to the forum using Mozilla and it fails. Tried using Ctrl + C and V but nothing. It also failed in Conquereor, but it works fine if I paste within an editor.

I guess thats another propblem. I'll have to try again later when I reconnect or type it in manually.

Below are the lines for the Cdrom and floppy:

/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto user,iocharset=iso8859-1,umask=0,exec,codepage=850,ro,noauto, 0 0

/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto user,iocharset=iso8859-1,umask=0,sync,exec,codepage=850,noauto, 0 0

Thanks for your reply David.

Pasting:

That seemed to be part of another problem I had with the mouse that somehow has sorted itself out. At the time of the post I didn't have full use of the mouse. It fixed itself *shrug*

Cdrom:

I haven't had a chance to try your actual 'fstab' lines but noticed and altered the iso to 9660 (the wrong iso number clicked in my head when I posted it) and that has alowed me to mount it using the terminal. The problem I seem to have now, even though I have permissions is that I can't mount as a user, unless again I use usermount gui.

I'll try your lines latter, mabe that will do the trick.

I think part of the problem is that I expected MD8.1 to follow a certain standard in regards to the layout and configuration of things from my last MD7.2 but its a case of having to re-learn everything.

Thanks again, will try you lines later.
