Hello - I have fedora core 2 installed and running for a while now without any problems.

When I put any cd media in the cdrom drive, the drive starts automatically and keeps running non-stop??

I cannot eject it pressing the button and opening a terminal session as root or a regular user, umount /mnt/cdrom will not eject it ??

How can I set the cdrom drive so that it does not run when I insert a CD ??

I cannot even look at cd media - I have no other functional problems.

Any ideas on fixing this ?? Thanks.............Steve.

Perhaps you have configured gnome or kde to run something when a cd is inserted?

You may try 'fuser /dev/cdrom'. It should show which processes are accessing cdrom.
