cdrom?


Why a cdrom is a charcter device an he isnt a block device?

You must be mistaken, character devices are terminals or tty's, check the response of:

# file cdrom
/dev/cdrom: symbolic link to /dev/hdb

# file hdb
/dev/hdb: block special (3/64)
