Do you need a GUI front end, or a mp3 conversion utility?

If you want a GUI front end, kervin is right... Grip is pretty nice. But it does notactually rip nor encode files. It is just an interface.

To rip an album, I use cdparanoia, and to encode I use notlame. cdparanoia should have come with your distro, but many do not come with an mp3 utility because of licensing.

Check freshmeat.org or yahoo.com for those.
