cd player no sound
I am using man9's default cd player which starts up fine and shows the tracks on the cd and seems toplay them but I have no sound.Where would I look for the solution to this?
Do you have any sound at all? or is it just the cdplayer thats not working?
Just the cd player everything else has sound, games etc. Thanks for the qiuck reply.
Well, the first think to check would be that you have an audio cable connected to the cdrom and sound card.
Yes I have a cable connecting them it works in windows just fine but thanks
Ok, what is the default CD player in Man9 called? and have you tried playing a cd with xmms?
I believe it's called kdcs and I've tried xmms but can't figure that one out yet.
Ok, try xmms and make sure that both of them are using the correct device.
Yes they are still no sound
ok then.. have you turned the volume up in aumik, kmixer or similar?
Are you sure you have an audio cable connected from the back of this drive to your soundcard? Not the ide cable, but an audio cable. It will have like a 4 pin connector (maybe 3) on the end of it. It's small, maybe 1/2 inch or less.
Cool |
Yes
Stupid question I'm sure, but is MUTE checked in the volume controls panel?
I have just installed Mandrake Linux v9.
I have the same exact problem. I have sound for effects but nothing from the CD players. I have tried everything in this thread and check the cable between the sound card and cdrom. Nothing seems to be working. xmms is able to play mp3 from hard disk. |
do you have multiple drives? it could be trying to read from the wrong drive, you could have the volume for cd turned down... try using other cd players... i'm sure man9 comes with a bunch of audio players capable of playing cds
