CD Player

Hi,
I have installed all Multimedia packages (RedHat8.0) on my computer, and
after installation of Linux, it detected my sound card and played a sound
test correctly, but when I put a CD (original Audio CD), the CD player opens (the GNOME's i think) and the timer starts but I don't hear anything.
Any suggestions?!

I think ur CD drive has no audio cable attached to mother board which usually required to play original cds..
But first i think u should try it by playing other good players.. Like mplayer. If that also don't work then u can use xmms-cdread plugin..

But first try that with other AVplayer in linux.. and then tell us..

i used to have the same problem, i thought it was strange that everything else was working, ie, xmms and xine, but couldnt play audio CD. then i had a look at the following, and everything was clear.
