Capture DV via USB

My Sony DV camera does not export via firewire, only composite cables and S-video cable. Do you know of a linux app that will capture DV via the USB?

I purchased a composite-to-USB cable along with the software for 10 bucks, but it's for XP, not linux. But now I do have the composite-to-USB cable.

Any linux app I can use to capture DV from my Sony via the USB?

thanks

You might want to look at the sisusb driver.

These links might help:

Thanks. Lots to digest.
I have dvgrab installed, but can't run it. ?? It's not listed under Applications > Sound & Video, and I can't start it from a terminal. It is located in /usr/bin. Looks like it might do the deed, but can't run it.

Well, duh......

A friend pointed out that my camera DOES have a firewire port. Guess I should get glasses :-)

But it's odd that the user's guide didn't mention firewire. Oh well.

So... Which PCMCIA card should I get for my Dell laptop? I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid. I've seen cards for wireless, but haven't seen any that are for firewire.

Anyone using a firewire card on their Dell lappy?
