Unhappy CAPS LOCK bahavior impossible to set?

Hello to all, here is my problem :

My mom is addicted to the CAPS_LOCK behaviour she learned to type with (on old typwriters) and she used to have under wind*ws:
CAPS_LOCK set caps ON
SHIFT set caps OFF

Now i try to reproduce this behavior using the
Option "XkbOptions" "caps:shift"
on top of the french layout of the keyboard, either directly in XF86Config-4, or using the kde interface to xkb...

Nothing changes...

(the same problem happened using a knoppix-dumped-on-hd and a mandrake 10.0 so i don't think it's distro-related)

I don't know how to do it, maybe using loadkeys or xmodmap, i am open to any suggestion...

Please help me before my mom makes me mad and asks to reinstall windows!! :/

Have a look in your DM's (most likely KDE with
Knoppix and Mandrake?) settings ...
KControl -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Layout

Cheers,
Tink

did it already...

alas, thanx for your reply, but i began doing it in KDE, noticing it didn't work, then trying more elaborate solutions...

actually changing anything in the kxdm menu does _nothing_ ... maybe it's specific to my french keyboard layout, i don't know....

any other idea?
