Cant get this to work

i downloded a karamba theme and its supposed to chow the system logs on the desktop but i cant get into this file..

heres instalation readme

logview - 1.0
# Date: 17/10/2003
#
# If logged in as root..then there is no problem
# But if not, then you have to change the permissions of files in /var/log
# Eg. /var/log/syslog
# <Shreenath Deshpande>--<http://pande.tk/>--<mdshreenath@yahoo.com>

so here i logged in as root and even tried to change permissions...

i pressed ctrl alt f2 and logged in as root
then

[joe@x1-6-00-4c-69-6e-75-79 log]$ su

When a command is not in your present $PATH, using a ./<command> tells bash to look in the PWD to execute the command.
