cant enable i notify kernel

im trying to install beagle. anyawy i have to have a inotify enabled kernel. i downloaded the rpm from kernel-smp-2.6.10-1.766.inotify.0.19_FC3.i686.rpm . it installed it successfully .. but when i follow the rest of the instructions given on ht beagle site to enable inotify kernel

# dmesg | grep "inotify init"
inotify init: minor=63
# mknod /dev/inotify c 10 63
# chmod 644 /dev/inotify

there is no entry with inotify in dmesg result.
i use kernel 2.6.9-1.667 on a i686

You need to edit /boot/grub/grub.conf and set whichever entry is the inotify kernel to be default.

I would be willing to bet that if you type uname -a you dont see 2.6.10-1.766.inotify or something like that. It just means you need to boot from the inotify kernel.
