Which distro? Some may not have the Intel ICH7 support built into the default kernel.

Im using LFS and have built the kernel myself so it has the correct sata drivers as far as I know or can tell.

Maybe simple??--Take out the space---the line should read this way:

kernel /boot/syskern root=/dev/sda2

There are many places where spaces around the "=" sign are not happy things.....

I fixed this issue. Aparently the ICH drivers in the kerneal are for PATA mode only. So when i changed in the bios to native mode off it booted but was slower. So i looked into the kernal again and found AHCI compliant and checked that instead of the Intel driver. Changed bios back to native mode and then booted and it booted fine. Since this is the first time with a SATA laptop this is why i got confused ( not famillair with all its little qirks yet) In any case it wasent the space in the boot menu as that was just me typing it wrong here.

Thanks for all the help
