Question Cant boot Redhat

Few days a go I tried to install RedHat 9. Everything was OK until the computer was ready to boot to system.
I use lilo for booting, but it doesn't work, only L appears on the screen.

Why? Is something wrong with the disk drive?
I have never had another system installed on it, so it could be mbr's fault?

pls help!

id just reinstall the OS and stay with grub IIRC that is RH default loader.

i have from time to time had RH not take properly on the first attempt or even second. even with a known good set of CDs it is just that way sometimes.
