Canonical Hostname

I tried to set up phpSysInfo on my webserver, and in the field "Canonical Hostname" it says "localhost".
The problem is that it shows "localhost" no matter what i set my hostname to.
I changed /etc/HOSTNAME, changed the variable HOSTNAME, I run netconfig and changed i there, but it still won't change.
The last time i ran phpSysInfo ot displayed my hostname correctly.
Anything I have done wrong?

No, there is no config file, and I have never edited anything before to get it to work.
