Cannot use full duplex audio with Wine

I am having this problem running full duplex (microphone and speaker at the same time)
This computer is an old laptop that I very seldom turn on and runs Ubuntu (not my favorite distro) 9.04.
Wine 1.1.25 which is probably from the package manager and is somewhat old.
I think the core of the problem is the only option I can select for audio in winecfg is OSS.
I can hear audio or use the microphone independently but not at the same time.
I have spent quite a bit of time searching for the solution but did not come up with all that much.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Is your system using pulseaudio as sound-system?
If so, try issuing
Code:
killall pulseaudio
aoss wine program.exe
to force wine in using ALSA or OSS.
If it doesn't work, the next thing I would try would be updating wine to a more recent version. Latest stable is 1.4.1, while latest dev is 1.5.10 as of now, so you're really using an "ancient" version.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately there was no effect.
