Cannot remove corrupt directory

Debian linux on an embedded system (with a flash based file system).
logged in as root

rmdir Data
rm: cannot remove directory 'Data': Directory not empty

ls Data
ls: Data/file.sqlite-journal: No such file or directory

ls -la Data
ls: Data/ControllerMdssaging.sqlite-journal: No such file or directory
total 4
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2048 Aug 15 23:11 ./
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2048 Aug 16 00:03 ../

rm Data/ControllerMdssaging.sqlite-journal
rm: cannot lstat `Data/ControllerMdssaging.sqlite-journal': No such file or directory

Any ideas:
I'm pretty sure this indicates file system troubles.

Tried:
fsck -A

only returns the fsck version...

fsck acted like /etc/fstab does not exist or is empty. If your file system is corrupt fsck may not be able to find /etc/fstab. I suggest that you run fsck giving it the fstype and partition address.
