Unhappy Cannot play sound in Linux


I am not able to play sound files in my machine.It has detected sound card but when playing test sound it showing some error like "the resource is being used by some ohter devices".
The installed linux version is Redhat 8.0

plzzzzz...... give me a solution

I m no expert, but i've had loads of trobule with sound in fc. I ve seen that error before and its sometimes caused by having some other program running which uses the sound card, amarok or xine or something like that. Make sure they are all off and then try?
