let me start with i've been trying set the kubuntu / plasma desktop up for 3 screens. desktop 1 for apps i open, desktop 2 for the dolphin windows i like to keep open, desktop 3 a empty desktop. as you can see from the below image i set dolphin to go to the 2nd desktop. once set i closed and reopened dolphin and it went to the 2nd desktop like i wanted. i thought that i was all set, but from my shortcuts folder i clicked vivaldi and it opened on the 2nd desktop instead of the 1st one. anyone know what i did wrong since by rights any apps other than dolphin should of opened on the 1st desktop. thanks
I like apps in familiar places too, and use XFCE. But I would never bother to configure X to do it.
Libreoffice & firefox start with X on terminal 1; I leave libreoffice there and drag firefox to terminal 3. XFCE has these 4 handy little windows for the 4 screens available in X on the XFCE task bar.At least they finished up there after I finished reconfiguring my desktop. Now I slavishly copy those settings over because I teetotally forget what I did. An xterm usually goes in 2, and whatever big package I'm using that day goes in 4 (I have a few).
It (screenshot) looks to me like you told ALL apps to appear on desktop 2?
What does "Application-specific" mean in this context? Seems like something is missing here, the screenshot does not show the full picture.
thanks for the reply. special application setting is:
rightclick dolphins titlebar
more actions
special application settings(by the wording suggest it's for the particular application)
the only thing i left out is below cause i really didn't think it was important. once you click special application setting you get the following popup.
"this configuration dialog allows altering settings only for the selected window or application. find the setting you want to affect, enable the setting using the checkbox, selext in what way the setting should be affected and to which value."

can you please respond to my previous post? thanks

Try using the ``Force'' option for desktop placement instead of ``Remember''. I use this all the time---works like a charm. The only difference is that I use it with `Activities'' instead of ``Desktop'' but I would imagine it'd work the same.
