Cannot Browse (Firefox) through SSH (Proxy) Connection

Howdy All . . .

Just signed up for a free SSH account. The connection works great from all the boxes (including Windowz) in my LAN.

However, I'm unable to configure any browser to use the proxy connection properly. I've read probably 12 different articles (including 3 on LQ), even went so far as to watch a couple YouTube vids -:tisk:

For posting purposes I'll use my FC9 box running FF3, here is how I'm configured.

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Settings:
Manual proxy configuration: selected
SOCKS Host: localhost (also have tried simply 127.0.0.1)
SOCKS v5: selected
Port: 8080 (same as in my ssh connection)
No Proxy for: localhost, 127.0.0.1

In my about:config:
network.proxy.socks_remote_dns = true

Other things to note:
Temporarily (for testing purposes) I've forwarded ALL traffic through my Smoothwall (basically same as ipCop) and local firewalls. However, since my SSH connection works fine -I can't see how this would make any difference -but I'm trying to be thorough.

Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
