cannot add new group in RH

I missed adding the dba group during an aborted install of Oracle RAC on WB3, 2 nodes. One node was set up correctly and the second is the problem. Now I cannot add the group dba to the second node. I have deleted it from the /etc/group file, but I still cannot do a newgrp dba and get anything. There are some files that used to have a group of dba, now they have a group of 115. Is there another file I need to stomp on to get this to work?

newgrp? never seen or used that command.. have you tried using groupadd instead?

Or how about adding the group manually by editing the /etc/group file?
