Can This Be Done?

I'm running SuSE 9.1 Pro on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D 8820

My question(s) are:

1. Can I install XP on a separate external IEEE 1394 (Firewire/USB2.0) hard drive and be able to dual boot.
(choose what OS, Windows or Linux to run at boot prompt)?

2. The external 30Gig 3.5" hard drive is mounted inside a Exsys EX-9030 and has a data transfer rate of 51 MBps.
(i have no clue if the EX-9030 is too slow to host XP)?

3. I know XP isnt extactly friendly towards other OS's and therefor i want to avoid it shredding my SuSE installation, so can XP be installed on the external drive without it messing up my Linux?

Some aditional info:

I have googeled abit and could only find info on installing Linux on XP machines.
In my case i want to try the opposite and perhaps a more akward solution: -> Linux and then XP and running it through prefferably the fastest option of Firewire or USB2.0.

I also got an impression that running XP through USB could encounter problems... so i wonder if Firewire will be a problem?, anyway i have never heard of anyone doing this, so in addition to needing XP for some obvious tasks (gaming for 1) i also think this would be a cool project.

Does anyone have any guidelines?
For starters can this be done? and can it be done without formatting my linux just to install XP first (boohoo say it isnt so :( i believe in linux's abilities as the superior OS over all OS's)

I haven't been keeping up with motherboard technology but I do not think firewire is a BIOS boot option. What about a second internal hard drive?

Oh i didnt consider that :( i havent been inside a bios in ages. Then it has to be set to boot from USB, dont have many choices left.

I forgot to mention that the Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D is a laptop so it only contains 1 internal drive and i wouldnt want to let an XP installation share that drive with my SuSE that is taboo :D
