Can the command line terminal resolution be changed?
Is it possible to change the resolution of the non X related command line terminals? And (for completeness), if so how? This is not a pressing issue, more of a parsing interest. I only ask because i like running long processes (like updates) outside of X, on the off chance that one of my apps or games crashes and i have to restart it. Its only an issue because i have a wide screen lcd that has a bad default resolution and id like to be able to see more text. Im not totally sure how it works or at what level that interface is implemented, so if this is a silly question feel free to say so, and why.:Pengy:

It's done by framebuffering. Just google for it and you'll get the idea...(your kernel will need to support it as well).

PS: Giving some more info about what you're using might help for getting more answers.

frame buffering... thanks. Sorry about the info level its my first question post and i was trying to get the question inside the first sentence. I have fc5 and it doesnt look like it has fbcon enabled but it should not be any problem.

Cheers jens.
